Grant Sacked

Avram Grant has been sacked by Chelsea after 2 days of talks with Chief Executive Peter Kenyon. With only 8 months in charge he did a good job with the blues taking the Championship race to the final game of the season and only losing on penalties to Man Utd in the Champions League Final in Moscow. But it wasn't enough to keep his job at Stamford Bridge.

Just read this about 20 mins ago. Cant say im disappointed although i do think he did quite a good job in his first season. Mancini, Rijkaard and Hiddink are the names being linked with the job.

I'm glad Chelsea decided to sack a manager at the end of the season this time though rather than half way through a season so atleast the new manager will have the time needed to settle in.

Im hoping for Rijkaard as i think he would get the respect from the players at Chelsea and maybe he would be the key to finally giving Roman the football he wants.

If John Terry had scored his penalty on wednesday and Chelsea won the Champions League do you think Avram Grant would have been given a chance. I think he'd have been given another season, which just goes to show how fickle football managment is, he scores, he stays, he slips, he goes
There's a piece in todays paper where Abramovich has started talking to Mourinho again

I think Grant would of been sacked even if he did win the champions league.

As for mourinho, i read this today aswell. Supposedly he is signing for Inter on monday though and i cant see him coming back to Chelsea anyway seeings as 1 of the reasons he was sacked in the first place was coz of his style of football.

I wonder if this time next season, Chelsea will have done so well, I mean second in the Premiership taking the league to the very last day. Finalist in the European Champions League and that is in Grant's first season........

If he'd been given the time perhaps he would have delivered....

For my two penn'th....I think his performace was as good as Marinio's only he didn't have Marinio's charisma and that is why he's been sacked......

Chelsea biggest problem has been injuries and the African Cup I think both of which Grant can do nothing........and lets not forget some egos the size of texas.....Lets judge Grant against his replacement....................

whatever happened to loyalty in football.
I think Abramovich invests too much money into Chelsea each season & therefore a season without a trophy is an unsuccessful one for him.
i'm beginning to wonder whether football is more of a sport or a business now
