Ballack returns after injury

Michael Ballack is keen to return to the Chelsea first-team before the end of the year after making his comeback for the reserves.

The Germany international has been on the sidelines since April after undergoing two operations on a worrying ankle injury.

Ballack came through 45 minutes as Chelsea's second string were beaten 2-0 by Birmingham reserves at Brentford's Griffin Park.
