Arise Sir Jock ?

Two Labour MPs have tabled a Commons motion calling for former Celtic manager Jock Stein to be awarded a posthumous knighthood.
Jim Devine and David Marshall said Stein should be honoured "properly" for helping Celtic become the first British side to win the European Cup.

Stein also won 10 Scottish League titles, nine Scottish cups, and six Scottish League Cups.

He collapsed and died in 1985, during a Scotland match with Wales, aged 62.

It started with Fergie Phil. Honours are given to sports people these days for nothing, the ashes cricket team is a prime example. For me only 2 people have deserved a knighthood from the football world, (Don Revie and Dennis Wise), no seriously Sir Alf Ramsey and Sir Geoff Hurst.

Bob Paisley deserves one more than anybody else in football.

I disagree Junkie, his achievements are second to none in club football and he was a nice bloke as well, but he served Liverpool FC nobody else. Sir Alf Ramsey won the World Cup for the country so in my book he's rightly recieved his honour. We've got a cricket player in England called Paul Collingwood who played in the final game against the Aussies last year, England won, got the ashes and he gets either an MBE or OBE i forget which. I think he scored around 30 runs in 2 innings that series, is that worth an honour. Not for me

Gerrard is a MBE (member of the british empire innit?). I dont think Souness is one, although he was Liverpool's greatest midfielder. Alan Hansen didnt get one either. Unfair indeed.
