Bent set for dramatic Cardiff snub

MARCUS Bent is set to deal Cardiff City a hammer blow by snubbing them at the last minute in favour of a move to Birmingham.

Hot on the heels of the debacle over Robbie Fowler's abrupt departure the Bluebirds - despite chairman Peter Ridsdale having all but confirmed the signing of Bent - now look set to suffer further embarrassment.

Ridsdale announced that he fully expected Bent to be on the plane to Portugal for Cardiff's pre-season tour tomorrow.

But in dramatic late developments Bent looks to have been enticed by Birmingham, who are looking to bounce straight back to the Premiership having been relegated last May.

Bent was expected in Cardiff today for a medical but never arrived and the club now look certain to miss out on their man with a high ranking source at Birmingham admitting they expect to tie up a deal for the striker in the next 24 hours.

not having any luck with strikers so far, with the exception of Ross McCormack

a very good question mate.

Since he's been here, he's done a good job he's made more progress than Hamann did in his reign. i.e training ground, stadium & managing the debt

But theres always what happened with Leeds niggling away at the back of your mind and i doubt very much that anybody 100% trusts the man. Doesnt help when he pays himself a half a million pound bonus! even though he used it to buy shares.

there are instances where i think he may have learnt his lesson. like we dont pay for players we cannot afford, they are free or loans, we sold about 7 million worth of players plus our funds from last seasons Fa Cup run which is why we are linked with 3mill bids for players this season. so he's not goin daft with a cheque book

regardless he's being monitored closely!

In his defence, during his reign at Leeds the fans were quite happy to see the calibre of players they were buying, he let his heart rule his head. I can't understand how a chairman can leave and go to another club, Ridsdale said he was Leeds through and through, then goes to Barnsley and later Cardiff. Ken bates is in a similar situation although Bates actually owns Leeds.

i think football is looked at differently when it comes to fans and the suits

to us its everything to the majority of them its purely business

what i cant understand is how the hell can you give yourself a £1 million bonus when the club needs every penny it can get when its £30ish million in debt?
