Rovers open ground share talks

Bristol Rovers have confirmed they are planning talks with four clubs about a potential groundshare arrangement.

The League Two club are hoping to start work on the redevelopment of the Memorial Stadium at the end of 2007 and the plan to transform the venue into an 18,500 all-seater arena could take 18 months.

Now Rovers are planning talks with rivals Bristol City, Swindon, Cheltenham and non-league Bath City about a potential groundshare.

"They are the four options available to us at the moment and chief executive Bill Smith and myself will be having talks with those four clubs over the next two weeks," said chairman Geoff Dunford.

"There are no favourites at the moment and we will see what develops from those talks.

"The choice would depend on the financial deal on offer and then we can consult with our fan base."

Rovers have previously groundshared with Bath City having played at Twerton Park between 1986 and 1996.

Seriously cant see them sharing with Bristol City, especially when you consider that Rovers tried buying Ashton Gate in the early 80's which would have put city out of business

Send the Nomads back to Barf and give the Bristol Rugby their ground back
