Aldershot swoop for veteran Gayle

Aldershot Town have signed veteran striker Marcus Gayle.
The 35-year-old has joined the Conference club after ending a second stint at League One side Brentford at the end of last season.

Jamaican international Gayle has also had previous spells at Watford, Wimbledon and Rangers.

Shots manager Terry Brown has also signed former Halifax Town striker John Grant, 24, after losing the services of Jason Lee to Notts County.

Thumbs up Chelsea defender joins Aldershot

Aldershot manager Terry Brown is delighted to have signed teenage Chelsea defender Dean Smith.
The 19-year-old was a regular in the Blues reserves last season.

Brown told the club's website: "We have been fortunate to sign Dean. We were able to watch Dean for most of last season when he at Chelsea reserves.

"He is familiar with the Rec which is a bonus but what appeals to him most is that we have the ambition to progress and he wants to play a part in that."

Veteran ex-Northampton striker Jason Lee, 35, has signed a two-year deal with Notts County despite having agreed a move to Aldershot earlier this summer.

Out-of-contract defender Matt Somner, 23, has also left Aldershot to join the Notts County on a two-year deal.
