Coleman confident of survival

Accrington manager John Coleman is confident his side will avoid relegation from League Two this season.

Stanley are currently three points outside the relegation zone with eight games remaining, and Coleman believes home form will be key in the closing fixtures of the season.

"It's going to be tight, there's six or seven teams who are all fighting down there and we've got to try and be the ones who keep our nerve and get a few wins to get us up there," he told Sky Sports News.

"It's going to be critical for all the teams down at the bottom to get their home form sorted out.

"We've got four home games, two out of the next three, and if you can take them it can give you a platform to go on and build on them for the away games."

Accrington were given a lift recently with their last-gasp victory over Torquay, with over 4,000 fans taking advantage of the offer of free tickets for the fixture.

Coleman revealed plans are already afoot for a similar offer for one of the remaining four games at The Fraser Eagle Stadium.

"We thought that the players needed a lift and the town needed a lift so the chairman made a magnificent gesture and put the ball back in the court of the town and they responded magnificently," he said.

"There's something afoot for some of the later games. We're going to do something.

"But he's (the chairman) been appealing for sponsors to try and help because we simply couldn't afford to do it for the remaining games of the season."

Meanwhile, Coleman insists his players have not been affected by the charges brought against the club by The Football Association for allegedly fielding three ineligible players.

"From my eyes it's just a technicality," Coleman added. "It's certainly not affected me or the players, we're concentrating on trying to win games.

"It won't have any bearing on what we do on the pitch, we'll still be going all out to win games.

"It's something you just put to the back of your minds and when the hearing comes next week we'll deal with it."
