Keiren Westwood celebrates Coventry City move

Keiren Westwood has spoken of his joy at joining Coventry City from Carlisle for £750,00, a move unveiled today by Chris Coleman and Ray Ranson.

Westwood said: "This is a massive club with a lot of potential.

"Coventry used to be in the Premier League and the gaffer is Chris Coleman, so I was always going to come here.

"There was interest from other clubs but nothing concrete and as soon as I heard that Coventry had made a bid, I wanted to come here.

Their initial bid was rejected but I was fortunate that they came back in with a better offer. I'm glad it all worked out in the end

"It's a step up for me and obviously I want to play at the highest level."

The 23-year-old, who was recently called up by the Republic of Ireland -although yet to earn his first cap - was named in League One's Team of the Season after an impressive campaign during which he kept 19 clean sheets and helped Carlisle to the play-offs.

Westwood follows the signing of midfielders Guillaume Beuzelin and Aron Einar Gunnarsson.

Meanwhile, City are understood to be interested in Sheffield Wednesday centre-back Richard Wood.

Its getting busy at the Richo
