Iain Dowie has emerged as one of the front-runners to succeed Phil Parkinson as Hull City manager after holding talks with the Tigers.

Dowie, 41, has been out of work since being sacked by Charlton last month.

Hull chairman Adam Pearson said: "Iain is a strong candidate and definitely one we are looking at very seriously.

"We've had an awful lot of applications for the job. There are perhaps half-a-dozen people you want to arrange things with and Iain is one of those."
