Thing is from a national population of 58 million people the total vote for all the nominees was 680,000 votes cast so about 1/60th of the nation bothered to vote and Sara Phillips won with about 240,000 votes, not exactly a popular choice. Probably means all the Aristo's, Bigwigs, Nobs, Snobs, Who'r'Henry's and Henry'ters in the country phoned in for their mate Sara.
Had England done well in the World Cup this lady would not have even been in the frame, the fact is as a nation our sport achievments last year were dire. Football, Rugby, Cricket, all are useless at the moment, that only leaves individual success and fringe sports...Hence Sara Phillips.........
