A Rough guide.

Thirst things First................ Where to drink!

There must be 20 watering holes within half a mile of the ground. And there's plenty more in the Town Centre which is less than a mile away!

Firstly can I recomend that any one with children try the Family Lounge at Edgeley Park. It is located in the Pavillion Suite at the ground floor level of the Cheadle End. The Cheadle End is the 'Big' end with the ticket office and the car park(players, sponsors, officials etc only). There will be quizes, game and other activities for the kid's aswell as sweets(mmm lovely e numbers) and hot food. There is of course a Licensed Bar.

The Armoury.
Situated on Greek St. at the roundabout between the station and the ground! Home of Yellow Block on match days, maybe it should be renamed Geek St.?
A warm welcome and excellent reasonably priced Robinsons Beer.

The Grapes.
Stagger over the road from The Armoury onto the pedestrianised Castle Street and the 1st pub you hit(ouch) is the Grapes, another Robbies pub. Used to be a penny or so cheaper than The Armoury(cheapskates) and the beer was also excellent, but i've not been in for a season or two.

The Jolly Crofter.
Still winding your way up Castle Street.I have been in here, but can't remember much about it.

The Pineapple.
You're still on Castle Street, but you obviously can't walk in a straight line, as you'rw on the oposite side of the street! Not been in here fo over 20 years, but don't let that put YOU off.

The Windsor.
Is now closed. This means you have an extra hundred yards between pub's.
To be honest it wasn't that good a pub, so don't get too upset.

The Sir Robert Peel.
Probably the best place for banter, and home of the Peel's on Wheels crowd. If you want to know why Stockport County are said to have more original songs than anyone else this is the place to start your research.
The Bitter's some smooth flow stuff, but the Guiness was alright last time Iwas in(last season). Pretty sure they do draught Stella for the more discerning amongst you.

The Prince Albert.
Another one I've not been in for a while. Seems fairly lively though. You've probably fallen over in the Bobby Peel beer garden, and whilst trying to reorientate yourself seen the flood lights and meandered in that direction? I advise you use the crossing as you try to traverse the main road(Mercian Way)

You will reach the ground and suddenly realise there is a pint sized hole in your gullet and at least 2 pints in your bladder that when eptied will need refilling!
Now we come to the tragic bit! THERE IS NO ALCOHOL AVAILABLE IN THE AWAY END OF THE GROUND!
Luckily you are on Hardcastle Street(the tarmac is actually the same consistency as the tarmac on Castle Street) and you've time for a quick 1 or 2 at the Bowling Club at the Railway End of the Ground.
