Beckham For Captain

If any one can remember the last world cup and euro qualifiers when it came down to the actual matches to get us through there was only one man that stepped up to the plate and took the task on by himself.
People might be able to remember watching Ferdinand,Lampard,Terry etc plodding around the pitch looking like they either couldn't be bothered or unable to understand the situation they were in.
Step forward Becks, he saw the team wasn't up for it and took the games on by himself,people might like him or hate him but when it comes down to really serious and the biggest games he is the only player i have seen do it time and time again.
For that reason i would say make him captain,no player shows the desire or passion (and skill) needed at such times,and without that commitment i think we will screw it up again.We have good club players but very few serious internationals and he is one of the few.

If Beckham was playing in a competitive league then i'd agree with you, but his season has finished and i think he lacks the sharpness. He should have stayed in European football instead of selling his celebrity circus to the yankee dollar. In his day Beckham was a terrific captain, probably the best since Bryan Robson but we've to move on. Gareth Barry should be a regular in place of Lampard, and other players should be replaced if they're not performing. McClaren won't do that though, he'll go with what he thinks is safe, and pick the same players who've made such a mess of this campaign already.
If we do qualify how long will it be before a player is in the papers saying how we can now go on and win the thing next year. It's a joke!!!!!!!!!

You do not need to be captain to show desire. Sometimes a player can make big changes even without title.

Barry for Lampard, i couldnt agree more. If SWP is performing, you wont have many troubles with croatia. Dont worry.
