Torquay chairman Mike Bateson has confirmed he is close selling his controlling shares in the club.

The Plainmoor chief is holdings talks with potential new owners about a prospective takeover which could happen in the next few days.

He confirmed on-going dealings are "in the hands of lawyers" and for that reason the identity of the takeover firm is not being revealed.

"I am confident we will agree the deal," Bateson told the club website.
